FODEP urges Nov 23 voters to uphold electoral code

Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) Executive Director McDonald Chipenzi has urged residents in Chongwe, Nakonde, and, Magoye constituencies to ensure they uphold the electoral code of conduct as they elect their Members of Parliament (MPs).

Chipenzi told the watchdog that it is vital that voters maintain peace and unity, and avoid unnecessary tension to create an environment for free and fair elections.

He also appealed to chiefs to shun active politics and continue being custodians of tradition and culture so that they do not breach the constitution.

Chipenzi called on the media to play its role as a stakeholder by ensuring it gives fair coverage to all aspiring candidates participating in the November 23rd by elections to sell their manifestos.

He further said only when the media coverage is balanced and the electoral process transparent can the political parties be satisfied that polls are free and fair.
