Government has awarded a road contract valued at close to one million Kawacha for routine maintenance to a Kabwe based company registered as a food and stationery supplier, the money is coming from the National Road Fund agency (NRFA).
Chalumbe Food and stationery suppliers was corruptly awarded the contract under tender number RDA/CE/004/013. LOT 16 even when the company does not have equipment and expertise for the works. The contract is said to have been engineered by some state house officials and that some money was released to the company after little works to enable them buy some machinery.
A reliable State house source has told the Watchdog that Chalumbe is just one of the many companies being rewarded for having helped Edgar Lungu win the 2015 Presidential election. Our roving reporter who was passing through Kabwe captured the billboard mounted, as depicted in the picture.
