Former Chingola mayor on Rainy Bow Party

The formation of Rainbow Party could not have come at a better time than this. Save for UPND which in my opinion now seems to have a realistic chance of winning the forthcoming presidential by-election especially that Rainbow Party is not participating; the other two major political parties: MMD and PF are both embroiled in some internal wrangles which deeply threaten their survival.
Sooner rather than later, people will be witnessing massive defections from most of these parties to Rainbow Party. I am not saying this from abstract but from a well researched position as someone who is on the ground and who gave a vote of thanks at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka on 16th December, 2014 when Wynter Kabimba the interim Party president announced its formation at a press briefing. I must admit that it was a great honour for me to perform such a noble function on such a memorable occasion. This was a day after I resigned from PF as Chingola District youth secretary due to persistent acrimony in that party.
Not long ago, despite me being a genuine delegate, I was harassed and manhandled in Kabwe at the PF extraordinary general conference by Lungu’s supporters of which one of them is a Copperbelt Provincial youth leader. I was only rescued by 5 Zambia police officers who whisked me away from the conference and I went back home.
My appeal to all well meaning Zambians is that they should avoid belonging to political parties which fail to respect their own constitutions, thrive on violence, intimidation and indiscipline over and above are financed and owned by an individual or a few of them. This is what makes Rainbow Party unique because it has been formed and is owned by all of us.
