Quick action by Woodlands Police station this afternoon saved illegal Minister of Health Joseph Katema from being lynched by Woodlands Pick n Pay customers in Lusaka after they spotted him with a ministerial vehicle with a flag.
Katema who was driving his former official vehicle went into “Pick n Pay” at Woodlands Shopping Mall and was accosted by consumers who wanted to effect a citizen arrest on him.
The citizens demanded that the minister parks his official vehicle and hands it over to the police as he was no longer a member of Parliament and has since seized to be a minister.
Katema is the former MP for Chingola constituency on the Copperbelt and among those outgoing President Edgar Lungu might not even adopt but wants him to keep drawing a salary and allowances.
Citizens have vowed to arrest any minister who will be found driving a ministerial vehicle since they are no longer ministers.
Caretaker president Edgar Lungu announced at a press briefing at State House that Ministers will remain in office as provided for by the law.
