Fr Bwalya chooses pot for party symbol, says poor people can’t wait for food

The slogan for Father Frank Bwalya’s party, the Alliance for Better Zambia is “Pa mpoto” which means on the pot.
Father Bwalya said he had decided to come up with the symbols and slogan of “Pa Mpoto ” (on the pot) because it is from the pot where the food is cooked from.
“The slogan of our party is pa Mpoto and the motto is better Zambia for all. We want new government, new people,’ Father Bwalya said
And speaking at Yar FM in Kitwe this morning, the outspoken Catholic Priest said the removal of subsidies on fuel, maize and fertilizer by the Patriotic Front (PF) government was not justifiable because of the bloated cabinet and the by-elections.
On the statements from government ministers that the removal of subsidies on fuel and maize would in future yield desirable results and so people should wait, Father Bwalya said poor people and even himself could not wait for subsidies to yield desirable results.
“Yes, subsidies are not good because money used to subsidize fuel and maize can be used on other developmental programmes, but the removal of subsidies on fuel and maize by the PF government is not justifiable because of the bloated cabinet and these by-elections.
“Even when am told that the removal of subsidies will bring good results in future, i cannot wait. Even other poor people cannot wait for subsidies to bring good results because am hungry ,” He said.
