Fr. Bwalya fears for his life, intelligence monitoring him

Outspoken Catholic Priest Father Frank Bwalya says his life is in danger because of speaking the truth and adds that it is sad that he has to find means of securing his life.

Father Bwalya’s comments come barely a week after an intelligence adhoc report expressed worry that he might join forces with the opposition to decampaign the PF, and consequently proposed that the cleric be put under close monitoring.
“It is most likely that Fr. Bwalya whose father is Tonga from Pemba may join hands with the UPND in an effort to campaign against the PF government… so his political movements need to be closely monitored,” read the report in part.

The former Zesco board chairperson says that his life has always been in danger, but his joining of the political arena and speaking the truth has even worsened the situation.

After he announced his political intentions, the PF machinery and their propagandist newspaper fiercely attacked him at different fora, the most recent being an exchange of bitter words with sports minister Chishimba Kambwili during a live phone in ‘Let the people talk’ programme on radio Phoenix last week.

The PF has apparently expressed worry that the cleric who was an ardent supporter of ailing dicatator Michael Sata and knows a lot of inside matters in the PF government has decided to speak against the party he helped win the 2011 elections.

Father Bwalya however states that Zambians are aware that he has not committed any offence but merely exercising his democratic rights, and has vowed to remain focused on realizing his dreams.
