FRANK Bwalya says the PF will go down in history as a party that ran government for one term.
But sports minister Chishimba Kambwili says inasmuch as the PF will not waste time responding to Bwalya’s fake prophecy as he was a political novice, “the chap” was also overrating himself.
Speaking shortly after he featured on UNZA Radio’s Lusaka Star programme yesterday, Bwalya, leader of the Alliance for a Better Zambia (ABZ), said that the political mood in the country, which had been in favour of the PF, was changing.
“I have declared that PF will only be a government for one term. PF will make history as a government that only served one term. The mood has changed totally. The people on the ground are disappointed. Even PF members themselves, if there was an (general) election today, they would vote against their party to punish those people who are behaving as if PF belongs to them and as if they were the only people who worked for the PF to win elections in 2011,” he said.
Asked how this could be so when PF had continued scooping parliamentary seats around the country, Bwalya responded: “I have got a lot of information from PF members about the formula they are using to win (by-elections).
Further asked why he did not report suspected corrupt acts by the government to the relevant authorities, Bwalya said there was currently no political will to tackle issues of corruption.
“If I took that information to Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) or Anti Corruption Commission (ACC), do you think they are going to censure the PF government?” he asked. “That would be unrealistic on my part, but I can tell you that they will be made to account the same way MMD has been made to account.
Speaking on the radio programme Bwalya wondered why Zambians were not bringing the government to its knees.
“Why are we (Zambians) failing to bring this government to its knees, when we were the ones who gave them a vote, when they were on their knees, asking for it?” he asked.
Bwalya said he did not see the government fighting corruption involving its own ministers.
“What I can say is I am pregnant with information. I may not wait until 2016 to deliver. I may have a premature baby or it may go all the way up to nine months. Some people are saying we need to induce labour so that they can have this information as quickly as possible,” said Bwalya.
But Kambwili said Bwalya should continue eating the money he was enjoying from some NGOs whose suspicious programmes he was championing.
He said the party had assigned PF ward chairmen countrywide, who were at Bwalya’s level, to be responding to him.
“When you argue with a fool, people will not notice the difference. We have made a declaration as PF to forget about Fr Bwalya because if we keep talking about him, he will think he is a factor. He can go to as many radios as he wants. I think he is just a chap who is over-rating himself. We can rest assured that PF will be in office beyond 2016,” he said.
Kambwili said the PF was winning elections currently in places where it was previously not popular.
“If, indeed, he saw the corruption at Zesco, why didn’t he report? This idea of people wanting to talk about corruption…when you are inside, you don’t see the corruption, when you get out, you see the corruption..is unacceptable, ” said Kambwili.
