Frank Bwalya says new police boss is unprofessional, Malama was okay

Father Frank Bwalya has expressed disappointment at the decision by President Michael Sata to remove Martin Malama from the position of Inspector General of Police.

Bwalya a Catholic priest who runs a one man NGO called ‘Get Involved’ claims  Malama exhibited professional conduct under the MMD government.

Bwalya told Kitwe based Flava FM radio that he is disappointed that President Sata appointed Stella Libongani as New Inspector of Police.

Bwalya claimed that the new IG Libogani during her time as Copperbelt Commanding Officer was very unprofessional and did not respect human rights.

Bwalya said there is need for the nation to undertake political and democratic reforms that will strengthen institutions of governance, state institutions and law enforcement agencies in order that they do their work professionally and independently.

He says the strengthening of such institutions will ensure that the head of state does not remove people at will.

Father Bwalya says while his organization is not condemning but respecting President Sata’s decision, it feels strongly that Dr. Malama should have been left to execute his duties as police IG.

Bwalya also urged President Sata to make consultations before making national decisions and listen to public opinion.

Bwalya warns President Sata against continuing making unpopular decisions.
