Fuel increment worries CSAWUZ

The Civil Servants and Allied Workers Union of Zambia (CSAWUZ) has said that the newly signed collective agreement between government and   public service workers will not benefit its members following the increase in fuel prices.

CSAWUZ General Secretary, Joy Beene, said in Kabwe that while the new collective agreement was the best so far in the history of the union, the members will not enjoy their new salaries and conditions of service.

Addressing civil servants in Kabwe in the Bomaconference hall, Beene lamented that the fuel price increment will affect unionized members in the sense that prices of commodities will shoot up, thereby making the new salaries irrelevant.

Beene also advised civil servants to utilize the loans they were obtaining from lending institutions wisely and build houses to avoid destitution at retirement.
