Due to strengthening Rand, Fuel prices in South Africa to reduce this month

The retail price of petrol in South Africa will decrease by 1.75 % from November 4, while wholesale diesel will decrease 0.8%, the Energy department said on Saturday, according to South African Broadcasting Services (SABC).

In a statement, the Department said petrol would cost R12.39 per litre in the commercial hub of Gauteng province (Johannesburg, Pretoria) , while diesel would be R10.84.

The government adjusts the price of fuel every month, factoring in global oil prices and the rand exchange rate.($1 = R13.8075)

The Department says the main reasons for the fuel price decreases are the strengthening of the Rand against the US Dollar and the drop in the global prices of all petroleum products during the past month.
