GBM arrested, to appear in court Wedneday

PF Kasama Central MP Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba was Tuesday arrested and formally charged with assaulting his employee.

GBM who was briefly put in police cells was later released on police bond and will appear in court on Wednesday.

GBM protested saying he was innocent and that the truth will set him free when he starts appearing in court on Wednesday.

Later on his facebook,  Mwamba said “as you may be aware, I appeared before the Police at Central Police and cooperated as a responsible citizen. I still maintain my innocence in this matter and the truth will set me free.

Let me also mention that it is unfortunate some elements sponsored to cause confusion at Matero Police Station. If this was nothing political, I wonder where all that political violence witnessed at Matero Police station came from.

Irrespective of today’s happenings, I still continue to appeal to my friends the supporters to remain non-violent even under extreme provocation”.

Mr. Mwamba was a prominent financier of then opposition PF and was appointed Defence  Minister when the party won elections in 2011.

He resigned over sharp differences he had with ailing president Charles Michael Katongo Mwango Chilufya Sata’s choice of the appointment of Paramount Chief Chitimukulu.
