GBM calls for cancellation of PF conference

Kasama MP Geoffrey Mwamba has called for the cancellation of the ongoing PF general conference in Kabwe.

Meaanwhile, PF delegates are using nearby bushes to answer the call of nature, as toilets are not working due to lack of water.

And the conference has been temporarily suspended to pave way to investigate allegations of ‘ghost’ delegates.

Mwammba, known widely as GBM told the Watchdog in an inclusive interview that what is happening at the Mulungushi University is nothing but criminality and thuggery.

GBM, one of the presidential candidates accused Edgar Lungu of promoting violence and criminality at the conference.

“When president Sata was alive he could stand up and condemn violence when it occurs but Mr Lungu is here and he can’t stop his cadres,’ he said.

He wondered what kind of leader Lungu would make for the country if he can tolerate  criminality within his party and against people who are just trying to exercise their right to be voted into office.

GBM warned that he has the capacity to retaliate but said that he does not want to do so because as a leader he does not thrive on blood.

And some delegates from Southern and Northern province have started returning home after being denied access to the conference by Lungu’s team.

Meanwhile, the general conference has been temporarily suspended to investigate reports of ‘ghost’ voters.

Central province PF chairman Benson Chali announced that the PF central committee has gone into a meeting to look at the case of candidates who had withdrawn.

He claimed that the PF law has a prescribed format that a candidate who wants to withdraw must write officially to the Secretary General otherwise his her name will remain on the ballot box.

But the main reason the conference has been suspended is because most candidates have demanded that the ‘ghost delegates’ be removed from the conference hall.
