Defence Minister Geoffrey Mwamba says he is more than ready to campaign ‘alongside’ Justice counterpart Wynter Kabimba in the forthcoming by-elections following ailing dictator Michael Sata’s directive.
Mwamba and Kabimba are each sponsoring a different militia group within the ruling party. The panga wielding militia groups recently clashed and killed at least one person in process.
But Mwamba seems to have been losing his supporters from inner government. Just this week, two of his colonels Ronald Chitotela and Rodgers Mwewa were fired as cabinet ministers.
On Monday during caucus meeting for PF Members of Parliament, Sata told the Mwamba and Kabimba to show the country that there were no differences in the PF by jointly conducting campaigns for the PF candidates in the forthcoming by-elections.
Mwamba told Qfm news in telephone interview from South Africa that he personally does not have any problems working with Kabimba and that Sata’s order is more than welcome.
Mwamba claimed that the only differences that existed earlier were between his group and that of Kabimba and not personal differences. At least he agreed there are groups and one of those groups is his.
According to Mwamba, if he campaigns under Kabimba, there will be unity in the ruling party thereby help serve the Zambian people in the manner the party is expected to serve.
Mwamba who is also PF Kasama central Member of Parliament said without unity in the ruling party there can not be development in the country.
Efforts to get Kabimba over President Sata’s directive proved futile as his phone went unanswered.
