GBM refuses to settle Daily Mail libel out of court

Screen Shot 2014-02-19 at 14.14.55Former Defence Minister Geoffrey Mwamba (GBM) has refused to meet Daily Mail Editor Antony Mukwita to settle a defamation matter out of court.
On Valentine’s Day, GBM bought his only wife for more 30 years a posh car.

But the Daily Mail (Mukwita) wrote an editorial implying that GBM stole money to buy the present. GBM is one of the richest people in Zambia.
GBM’s lawyers requested Daily Mail to retract the libel. But Daily Mail only removed the online version of the libel but did not apologise.
Muwkita later wrote to GBM’s lawyers begging them not to go to court but settle the matter out of court.
Mukwita requested a meeting with GBM and his lawyers.
But a letter given to the Watchdog by sources at Daily Mail who despise Mukwita and all that he represents shows that GBM has refused to meet him.

GBM) ’s Lawyers Makebi Zulu Advocates replied to the Daily Mail that they have been instructed to immediately sue Mukwita in his personal capacity (as an individual) and Daily Mail.
