Former Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary George Kanyamula Zulu is bitter with his demotion and has accused former president Rupiah Banda of
scheming his down fall.
President Edgar Lungu demoted Zulu last week by sending him to Australia as High Commissioner. A high commissioner is at the level of a director at the ministry of Foreign Affairs. Lungu replaced Zulu with one of his juniors Lombe Chalwe, meaning that Zulu was dropped about three levels.
But George Zulu is very bitter and has asked his cousin chief Mpenzeni to complain to President Lungu on his behalf.
Zulu has been positioning himself to run as MP for Chipata central in 2016, but this is contrary to Rupiah Banda’s plans as he has his own team.
PF contacts in Chipata explain that Zulu has done groundwork and he is the one who funded youths and women on youth and women’s day respectively.
When Rupiah Banda was informed, he told president Lungu to remove Zulu as PS and send him to so some embassy outside the country.
‘The decision will send George Zulu into political early retirement since he won’t be in touch with PF original and parallel structures,’ said one source.
‘George Zulu went to complain to chief Mpzeni. And Mpezeni phoned president Lungu over this issue but president Lungu told Mpezeni to meet him after his campaign trail,’ said a source.
In an interview on Saturday, chief Mpezeni complained saying Edgar ovwilila tyani Rupiah Banda. Seo kuno kwasu tiliye MP olo cabinet minister uyu Vincent niwa (Vincent Mwale the notorious womaniser) MMD koma not PF. George omufuba ni banthu.banthu bapezeka na vuto akankhaka kula ku lusaka ni George othandiza kubapasa po a na vuto akankhaka kula ku lusaka ni George othandiza kubapasa polala nama transport yowelela kuno ku chipata.
(How can Edgar listen to Rupiah Banda? Here we have no MP or cabinet minister. This Vincent (Vincent Mwale the notorious womaniser) belongs to MMD not PF. George has been helping people. When people find themselves in problems in Lusaka, George helps them with accommodation and transport to return to Chipata.
