The Germany government has earmarked several township roads in Southern Province to be upgraded to bituminous standard.
Addressing the media at the provincial administration in Choma this morning, the Germany representative Kirigenda Jean Baptiste said his team of engineers is already on the ground to do a comprehensive assessment study on the roads in six districts.
The targeted districts include Choma, Sinazongwe, Kalomo, Gwembe, Monze and Mazabuka.
Mr. Baptiste says many roads in districts such as Mazabuka and Sinazongwe have had their bridges washed away, hence the need for urgent attention in order for people to have easy access to health and education services.
Speaking on the same occasion Germany Director Team Leader Chusi Sikali says once the project is complete, it will enhance road network in the Province.
Mr. Sikali says the project is expected to be completed in three years’ time, stating that the assessment process is the beginning of the project in the region.
