Chris Kakunta and Finess Muyumba were abducted around 22 hours from Showgrounds where they were chatting with journalists Thomas Zgyambo and Obert Simwanza.
“Kakunta was actually severely beaten before being bundled in the car, and they managed to get laptops and other documents from Obert Simwanza on suspicion that they were Zambian Watchdog reporters,” sources said.
The two journalists were later dumped at a graveyard. On Saturday morning the two went to the police to complain.
Chris Kakunta is currently working as reporter for government controlled National Agriculture Information Services (NAIS).
The other journalist is believed to be connected to the Times of Zambia.
Ceremonial vice-president Guy Scott in parliament had no kind words for the Zambian watchdog on Friday.
Scott said he insulted the people of Southern Province because the works of the Zambian Watchdog reports on president Michael Sata.
