Grade 11 girl arrested for having 4, 000 counterfeit US dollars

The Zambia  Drug Enforcement Commission has arrested a grade 11 pupil of Sekela High School in Chingola for being in possession of over  US $4 000 of counterfeit notes.
Nancy Nakazwe, 16 was arrested from Mtendere Township in Lusaka after conducting a search at the house she was staying, DEC spokesperson John Nyawali has confirmed.
Nakazwe was arrested together with a Pamela Banda a businesswoman of the same Township after they were found with the notes which were in hundred dollar bills.
The two are currently detained in Police custody awaiting trial, according to Nyawali.
And a 36 year old businessman of Ndola has been arrested for issuing a check amounting to K116 million on an insufficiently funded account.
Chungu Kapema, a resident of Itawa in Ndola was arrested after issuing three checks with the values of K50 million, K40, million and K26 million on the same day on an insufficient account contrary section 33 of the National Payments Systems Act Number 1 of 2007.
“Mr Kapema had engaged into a business transaction with a Lusaka resident who reported him to the Commission after bouncing the checks” said Nyawali adding that “he has been released on Police bond and will appear in court soon.”
