Grave diggers replaced by machine, 60 lose jobs

To cut costs and improve efficiency, the Memorial Park Cemetery Company at Leopards Hill has bought a grave-digging machine operated by one man.

Good for the company and maybe for people going to burry loved ones; but to the more than 60 seasoned gravediggers, not so good as it means they have lost their jobs.

Grave digging is a noble job but finding another job afterwards may not be very easy, especially in Zambia where even securing a manual, part time job is hard.photo-2
