Henry, who has been on the run for almost 5 years briefly returned to Zambia on Friday last week aboard a South African Airways flight number 066, which landed at 8:45 hrs.
Sources have revealed that on Sunday, February 19, 2017, Henry whose new Zambian passport Number is ZP 010542 speedily exited the country around 15:00 hrs aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight carrying three huge black suitcases containing cash.
What caught airport security’s eye however, was the secrecy that shrouded Henry’s exit formalities.
Henry arrived at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (KKIA), with three huge black suitcases, exactly 30 minutes before departure and was immediately whisked to the VIP Lounge.
To conceal the contents of Henry’s luggage, an express directive not to screen the suitcases had been issued prior to his arrival at the airport.
Even the flight crew was notified over the valuable luggage Henry was transporting, which was later discovered as cash packaged in several bundles of US dollar notes.
Henry, who was in a visibly restless mood only became relaxed after the suitcases where wheeled and loaded on the aircraft.
Coincidentally, Banda’s security detail and office staff that traditionally receives and clears off the ex-President’s guests was missing.
Henry’s passport was suspended by the late Michael Chilufya Sata’s administration after he jumped the border following a corruption and grand embezzlement probe.
However, Edgar Lungu recently authorized that a new Zambian passport be issued to Henry to facilitate his return back home.
President Lungu has also instructed that all corruption charges against Henry be dropped, a move that has riled the system particularly that the evidence against Henry is overwhelming.
Details on Henry’s destination will be availed soon…
