HH arrives in Zambezi as PF withholds fuel, order Zamtel to distribute phones

But UPND campaigners in the constituency have been handicapped following the PF’s directive to the only service station to stop selling fuel to UPND members.
Meanwhile, the ruing party has ordered ZAMTEL to distribute smart, mobile phones to all registered voters in the constituency. Zamtel has in the past three days erected network towers in all corners of the constituency. The PF has also put on social cash transfer most of the registered voters and promised them more if they vote for the ruling party.
Last week, the PF government diverted K5 million (K5 billion old currency) from grant aided institutions under the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVETA) and sent K1 million (K1 billion) to each of the five constituencies for directly bribing voters.
On the withholding of fuel, the UPND has resorted to buying smuggled fuel from Angola being sold on the black market.
UPND North Western Province chairperson Grandson Katambi revealed that the situation in the constituency has been created by ruling PF Zambezi West candidate Christabel Ngimbu.
According to Colonel Katambi, Ms. Ngimbu owns the only service station in Zambezi West and has instructed attendants not to sell fuel to UPND members.
Ngimbu is a bad-hearted woman who has attempted but failed all the way to the Supreme Court to stop Charles Kakoma from recontesting the seat.
But despite the underhand methods and pure electoral malpractices and corruption practiced by the ruling party, business in the central business of Zambezi west on Saturday came to standstill when UPND President Hakainde Hichilema arrived in the district.
Hakainde was welcomed by over 50 taxi drivers who used their vehicles as sweepers as he entered the Zambezi Boma.
Even women in PF material were seen raising the UPND symbol.The UPND president is in Zambezi district to drum up support for the UPND candidate Charles Kakoma in the Zambezi west parliamentary by-election.
He is expected to hold a public rally at Chinyingi mission on Sunday.
