Zambia Police in conjunction with PF thugs imported from Lusaka Sunday afternoon disrupted a UPND rally in Mangango and arrested one UPND member. The PF has sensed defeat and is working on plot to compel the ECZ to cancel the election.
Meanwhile, after the confusion, UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema visited a number of churches and said he appreciated God and urged the congregants to continue having faith in God.
The police working under instructions from senior PF members were instructed to disrupt the UPND Rally and bring confusion to ensure that the rally doesn’t take place.
Police fired live bullets in the air with a view to disrupt the meeting which was about to be addressed by UPND president Hakainde Hichilema but people refused to disperse. Obvious Mwaliteta has imported more thugs from other towns such as Livingstone. Some of them are the ones that killed their fellow PF thug in Livingstone last time.
Later, UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema today visited a number of churches saying he appreciated God and urged the congregants to continue having faith in God. Hichilema also asked the gospel preachers to continue spreading the word of God.
In his ongoing campaign for the UPND candidate in the 19th August by election Hichilema visited St. Joseph Catholic Church then later went to the local New Apostolic Church and some Pentecostal Churches.
And Church leaders all welcomed Hichilema and lamented the under development in the area. St. Joseph parish Priest Father Mathew Ngwenya lamented the poor road and the non availability of boarding facilities for school children who were forced to rent houses in villages. Fr. Ngwenya said that the situation had resulted into many girls falling pregnant. He said as a Church, they had tried their best to mitigate the suffering but that they require government support.
Later HH was invited to address over 15 headmen who all expressed happiness that he had taken some time to visit them at headman Salikuni’s residence.
And earlier in the day armed police officers stormed the UPND constituency office and fired teargas to disperse tha huge number of supporters who were waiting for their
leader. Police also apprehended Assistant campaign manager Ken Ndumba but he was later released. Ndumba also donated a cow to the UPND leader who immediately instructed that the animal be slughtered and be given as food to the campaigners.
