The latest results announced by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) show that UPND candidate Hakainde Hichilema is slowly catching up with the ruling party’s candidate Edgar Lungu.
The ECZ announced the latest results on Thursday at 23 hours local time showing that the gap between the two candidates has reduced to 29, 054 representing 2 per cent difference.
PF ‘s Edgar Lungu now has 670,397 votes ( 48.47 %) while UPND’s Hakainde Hichilema has 641,343 votes (46.47%).
The ECZ will make the next announcements at 11 hours local time on Friday.
There are 39 more constituencies to be announced officially.
