UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema yesterday (Monday) was given a thunderous welcome in Western Province where he has travelled to meet party officials and visit communities, public places where no police permits are required.
The UPND leader brought Kaoma town to a stand still when he toured the markets and other public places where he was greeting people.
Mr. Hichilema and his entourage are today expected to meet party officials and visit several public places and markets to familiarise himself with issues affecting the people there.
It is not clear whether Mr. Huchilema will hold any rallies as the PF police have so far blocked all attempts for him to address public meetings citing security reasons.
Sources within the UPND said with the refusal by the police to allow rallies, the UPND leader will now embark on touring various parts of the country and consolidate party structures as well as meeting communities, marketeers, farmers, and public institutions with a view to familiarise himself with the challenges people were facing.
From Western province, the UPND leader is expected to tour urban and rural parts of Central, Luapula, Eastern, Northern and Muchinga provinces.
Mr. Hichilema will also meet people in Copperbelt urban and rural as well as North-Western Province where there is a bye-election in Mufumbwe.
Mr. Hichilema does not need a permit to visit public places such as markets, communities, and his party officials in the country.
