United Party for National Development President Hakainde Hichilema has filed in his nomination for Presidency and has declared the party is ready to take over government after 20th September this year.
Mr Hichilema who arrived at the Supreme Court amid pomp and splendor from his members, was accompanied by his wife Mutinta, Party Secretary General Winston Chibwe and other senior party officials.
Former UPND members of parliament were also in attendance at the Supreme Court.
ZNBC reports Police had tough time controlling the huge crowd that thronged the Supreme Court premises to give solidarity to their leader.
After successfully filing, Mr Hichilema, who was in a jovial mood, immediately told his gathering that Zambianow needs real change.
He told the gathering that they should now campaign to usher in office a new generation of young leaders.
Mr Hichilema saysZambianeeds economic and social development, having experienced political changes of governance in 1964 and 1991.
Mr Hichilema says the UPND will increase earning of civil servants, with the lowest paid worker getting K5 000 000.00.
He says the UPND government will also ensure that all retirees are promptly paid their benefits.
And addressing Journalist earlier, Mr Hichilema said his party wants to bring meaningful change to many poor Zambians.
Mr Hichilema said the UPND will ensure that all children are given education to empower them.
The UPND leaders further saidZambiahas a lot of resources to ensure that poverty is reduced.
He saysZambiadoes not lack resources to develop but needs prudent management of its resources.
And Mr Hichilema called on Zambians to vote wisely.
Mr Hichilema further says Zambians must embrace each other and maintain the oneZambiaone nation slogan which has been a beacon of peace in the country.
