Opposition UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema will this afternoon address a series of meetings in Kasempa, North-Western Province on his way to beef-up campaigns for MMD candidate Stanford Mulusa in Mufwembwe bye-election.
Mr. Hichilema who was recently in Petauke, Eastern province, travelled the whole night with his entourage to North-Western province to also strengthen the UPND structures in the area.
The UPND leader who stood his ground against pressure from party members who wanted his party to also participate in the November 8th bye-election will join MMD and UPND campaign teams in drumming up support for the MMD candidate in the area.
The bye-election fell vacant after former MMD MP, Stephen Masumba, was expelled by his party for disloyalty and indiscipline.
Mr. Masumba has since been adopted by the ruling PF which he joined after losing a court case to maintain the seat. There is heavy presence of government machinery campaigning for Masumba in Mufumbwe, with rampant abuse of resources for the PF to win at least a single seat in North-Western Province.
