HH is the best

Dear Editor,
Allow me some space in your interactive, addictive and widely read online news. I am convinced that the United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema (HH) is a good leader. Just to give a practical example, when the Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) opportunists Members of Parliament (MPs) are jumping their own ‘clock’ into the ‘drowning’ Patriotic Front (PF) boat  for their own benefit, UPND MPs are exhibiting self-discipline by standing up for what they believe as a political party. This is very inspirational in this era when political greediness is the order of the day!
I believe that it is HH’s leadership style coupled with the quality of his MPs that has made him indoctrinate the ‘drill’ expected in his MPs by producing in them a good character of political behaviour that is required of politicians and MPs and inspirational to the nation.
To me, HH has instilled the needed self-discipline in his MPs by deliberately making them to see and align their energies with the policies, beliefs, values, and priorities of their party. Honestly, I would want to work with a leader like HH for life! The harmony in UPND when the MMD ‘clock’ is being destroyed at the hands of president Michael Sata is an indication of how focused HH and his MPs are making Sata’s temptations and distractions pass them by.
This is the breed of leaders we need in Zambia not opportunists jumping from one political party to another like a monkey jumping from one maize field to another looking for an opportunity to fill in its stomach.
We should give credit where it is due, UPND under HH has shown us that good leadership calls for self-discipline appearing in various forms, such as perseverance, restraint, endurance, thinking before acting, finishing what you start doing, and as the ability to carry out one’s decisions and plans, in spite of political bribery and inducement from government.
Under HH’s leadership we know that self-control, the ability to avoid unhealthy excess of political maneuvers that could lead to negative consequences of the party or opposition voice is possible. I look forward to a day we will have a government with self-disciplined leaders like UPND MPs a recipe for national development.
HH’s self-discipline approach to leadership should be supported by all well-meaning citizens as it promotes in political leaders the ability to forgo instant and immediate gratification and pleasure, in favor of some greater gain that will benefit the whole country not only a few greedy leaders jumping from one political maize field to another.
The virtue of self-discipline HH is drumming into his MPs should not be seen as punitive or restrictive political lifestyle as some people think, and it has nothing to do with being narrow minded or living like a fakir. It is the expression of inner strength and staying power, vital for dealing with the political affairs of daily life and for the achieving of party and national goals.
My word to all UPND MPs is to endure frustration, disappointment, and pain of being in opposition in the service of higher national goals. It means being willing to push yourselves to the limits of your political will and endurance because that is what is needed for your political success.
