HH promised defecting councillors K10m each, says MMD

Some MMD councillors who defected to the United Party for National Development (UPND) last week have rescinded their decision and wish to return to the ruling party.

The TIMES OF ZAMBIA reports that acting MMD Central Province chairperson George Kangwa said the decision by the councillors follows their failure to agree with UPND leadership that promised them to renounce their MMD membership in exchange for K10 million each.

Kangwa said when they travelled to Lusaka, the councillors were only given K240, 000 each.

In the past one month, 13 MMD  Councillors from Central province defected to the UPND.
