UPND President Hakainde Hichilema has bemoaned the poor sanitation conditions in most rural parts of Zambia.
He said this when he made a donation towards the repair of water points in Chiguya village of Sinda District, Eastern Province.
Speaking through UPND Chairperson for Agriculture, Food and Water Development, Levy Ngoma who delivered the Donation on his behalf Mr Hichilema castigated the Patriotic Front (PF) for failing to improve sanitation conditions in most rural parts of the Nation. He further indicated that supporting vulnarable communities in areas such us Sanitation,Education and Health is a noble call to duty and on going! In thanking Mr Hichilema, former Sinda MP Levy Ngoma said it was wrong for the PF Government to continue living extravagant and a lavish lifestyle at the expense of the suffering people of Chiguya village and Zambians as a whole.
The former Sinda lawmaker said it was unfortunate that it had to take President Hakainde Hichilema of the UPND to dip into his pockets to have the said borehole repaired when an annual allocation of K1,600,000 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) has always been disbursed to the area for such purposes.
He said Mr Hichilema opted to donate for the repair of the borehole after word got to him that the people of Chiguya village have been living without safe and clean drinking water after those that were sank got destroyed.
Mr Ngoma also bemoaned the poor state of roads in the area and accused the PF of “ransacking” the national treasury when the people of Chiguya village have to travel long distances to get to the nearest health center. He said it was saddening that the villagers have to travel many kilometers to get the nearest school or learning institutions.
Meanwhile in receiving the Donation Headman Chiguya has applauded President Hichilema for the wonderful gesture and has since called on the UPND leader not to tire in his efforts to uplift the lives of Zambians by taking them from the shackles of poverty.
He said Hichilema was a merciful leader that has a heart for the suffering Zambians and that the people of Zambia can’t afford to miss having him as the country’s leader.
