Meanwhile some UPND supporters where injured after PF cadres attacked buses that were transporting people to the UPND rally.
Addressing a mammoth rally in Lusaka’s Kanyama area Sunday afternoon, Hichilema said the PF was telling people that they will lose their jobs if UPND wins the elections but he (Hichilema) assured that his government will instead create jobs.
He said his government will create a professional civil service where people can be appointed ambassadors, district Commissioners or Secretary to the Cabinet regardless of the part of the country one comes from.
Hichilema told the cheering crowd that once elected his government would among other things, work to reduce the price of fertilizer so as to reduce meali- meal prices, reduce the price of fuel and electricity tariffs.
He also promised to remove the wage freeze and employment freeze imposed by the PF government and promised to reinstate all the nurses who were fired for striking after the PF government failed to pay them the money they were promised.
He noted that so many retirees die before they get their terminal benefits and assured that all retirees will receive their money.
He said the UPND in government will work to improve student bursaries and loans to afford every Zambian university education and improve student accommodation. He has also promised that the Commonwealth Centre building which Chishimba Kambwili has been fighting with students over will be handed back to the university.
On the constitution, Hichilema said the UPND will work to deliver a people driven constitution before the 2016 elections.
And Hichilema has promised to recognize Henry Kanyanta Sosala as Chitimukulu once he is elected president and pointed out that government should not meddle in traditional matters.
Meanwhile some UPND supporters where injured after PF cadres attacked buses that were transporting people to the UPND rally.
The stone throwing cadres smashed several buses and attempted to block the road from Soweto market area to stop people from attending the rally but the Police brought the situation under control and positioned officers to patrol the area.
No PF cadre was however arrested but the damaged vehicles were taken to Los Angeles police post.
