A meeting of presidential candidates with the Electoral Commission of Zambia Wednesday almost turned ugly as UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema told PF’s Michael Sata that he is frivolous.
Sata demanded an apology but President Rupiah Banda interjected saying the word frivolous is not offensive.
This was after Sata requested that the ECZ bans the Times of Zambia and Chanda Chimba’s Stand Up for Zambia newspaper.
The ECZ chairperson Irene Mambilima told Sata to wait but Sata insisted on talking and produced copies of the Stand up Zambia newspaper which he said is written by Chanda Chimbwi (hyena).
Sata continued talking and waving the paper at other candidates who were all seated except for him prompting Hichilema to tell him to stop being frivolous.
The PF delegation demanded that Hichilema should apologise.
President Banda then spoke and said there was no need to apologize as the word used is not an insult.
