HH visits less privileged, takes part in community work

In his continued tour to thank voters and party mobilization, UPND President Hakainde Hichilema was yesterday in Kanyama Constituency’s Linda Compound of Lusaka also doing some community work.

Mr. Hichilema, who bemoaned the levels of hunger and poverty in the country, spent the whole day with the people of Linda Compound to appreciate their daily challenges.

He reiterated the need to prioritize job creation especially for the youths in the country by promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) through provision of affordable loan schemes.

The UPND leader helped in offloading a truck of mealie meal and drinks that were being offloaded into a shop much to the delight of onlookers.

Some of the small-scale traders openly wept to Mr. Hichilema as they complained about huge decline in sales and business due to harsh prevailing economic conditions.

But Mr. Hichilema told them that as a businessman himself, he fully understood the prevailing harsh economic conditions where products are even getting expired in the shelves because majority Zambians have no disposable incomes to buy.

He also spent time doing community works with people who are differently abled where he was told that this group of people was being neglected by successive Governments.

Mr. Hichilema promised that once he forms Government people that are differently abled will receive special packages to alleviate their suffering.

The UPND leader was particularly touched when he visited a number of households which included mama Theresa Chisenga Muyenga a visually impaired small-scale farmer, who shared the challenges she was facing in the PF government.

He concluded his community tour by addressing party officials and some of the residents.

Mr. Hichilema urged UPND leadership countrywide to embrace new members and treat everyone as equals in the party.
