The UPND says as far as it is concerned it’s leader Hakainde Hichilema remains the winner of the Zambia August 11 presidential election unless the court rules otherwise.
This is contained in a statement released by
Munali constituency UPND candidate Doreen Mwamba. She was responding to misguided utterances by State House spokesperson Amos Chanda.
Last Sunday, Chanda tried to insult Hichilema by claiming that HH was misleading the world that his election victory had been stolen by the PF.
Chanda said Edgar Lungu won in six out of 10 provinces and wondered why the UPND was claiming he won the elections.
This is the level of dullness at statehouse. It is not provinces that vote. It is is people in provinces that vote. It depends on the number of people who actually cast the vote in each province.
Chanda said no election observer had disputed Lungu’s re-election and he has challenged Hichilema to state how many votes were stolen from him.
Hichilema went to court to prove just that but Chanda and fellow criminals bribed the judges.
Mwamba successfully petitioned and caused the nullification of PF Member of Parliament Prof Nkandu Luo’s election.
Below is Mwamba’s statement in full:
On behalf of the People of Munali constituency, and indeed on my own behalf including our party UPND, I wish to inform the nation that Mr Hakainde Hichilema, President of the UPND won the 2016 elections outright.
And we the people of Munali, would like to set the record straight that contrary to insinuations that PF and Mr Edgar Lungu won the 2016 elections, he did not win and that their victory claim is a fallacy.
The People of Munali constituency petitioned the declaration of Nkandu Luo as the duly elected MP after presenting facts before the court and the overwhelming evidence of how the PF had stolen the votes led to the seat being nullified.
The nation must therefore be reminded that part of the evidence in the presidential petition is bundled in the same petition facts which saw Munali being nullified.
Therefore it is utter day light dreaming for State House supporting staff like Mr Amos Chanda to mislead the nation that President Hakainde Hichilema of the UPND did not win elections.
Fellow citizens, one does not need magicians to know who the winner of the 2016 elections is between Mr Edgar Lungu and Mr Hakainde Hichilema.
This is why we in the UPND and the pople of Munali constituency are insisting that our presidential petition must be heard and not subjecting citizens to lies.
We the people of Munali and indeed the whole country know that Hakainde Hichilema is President unless the courts disposes off our presidential petition and declare who won the elections.
Munali is one constituency with presidential petition facts or indeed evidence and the PF is aware that they lost the August elections hence having their falsely acclaimed victory in Munali nullified.
In any case, why is State House including Mr Amos Chanda panicking over our non acceptance of Mr Edgar Lungu as President?
Hear the Presidential petition and not claiming that you won, when in fact you did not.
