MMD Spokesperson, Dora Siliya has described as unfortunate, the violence that characterised the filing in of nominations for the Chilanga seat.
Ms Siliya, who is also Education Minister, has cautioned all political leaders to refrain from provoking each others’ supporters.
She has called on UPND leader, Hakainde Hichilema to stop provoking MMD cadres.
Ms. Siliya said Mr Hichilema’s name will permanently be associated with violence similar to the Mufumbwe encounter, if he does not disassociate himself from acts of political hooliganism.
She said the MMD is on record as a party that stands for co-existence and peaceful campaigns, in which voters are left to freely choose their representatives.
And Ms Siliya has thanked the people of Mpulungu for having held peaceful filing in of nominations.
In another development, Ms Siliya has taken a swipe at Mr Hichilema for suggesting that all pillars of governance have collapsed in Zambia.
