UPND president Hakainde Hichilema yesterday joined hundreds of congregants at the Bwacha main SDA church where the host pastor, Mujoni Mweene said politicians must serve as ambassadors of Christ in doing good things. The opposition lewder is today expected to attend mass at the Sacred heart cathedral during his continued campaign trail in central province.
Hichilema, a church elder in the SDA was accompanied to church by former Mumbwa MP Dr. Brian Chituwo and many other party leaders. After the church service, Hichilema had a meeting with a number of Kabwe based church leaders where they prayed for peace in the nation.
Later in the afternoon the opposition leader held a mega rally at the Comet grounds in the sprawling Makululu compound where he pledged to fix the economic challenges facing the once glorious town of Kabwe.
He pledged to lower the cist of fertiliser which will in turn lower the cist of mealie meal while offering good incentives to farmers. He also bemoaned the lack of industries in Kabwe which he said has led to high unemployment levels.
The UPND team comprises former vice President Guy Scot, MMD and UDF leaders Miles Sampa, former Lukashya MP Bernard Mpundu, Mutale Nalumango, UPND Veep Geoffrey Mwamba among many others.
And Nevers Mumba who was accompanied by several MMD members said that his party was in alliance with the the UPND.
