High Court fails to make judgment in Regina Chiluba for third time

The High Court has today adjourned to December 7, 2010 the delivery of judgement in the appeal case involving wife of former president Fredrick Chiluba.

This is the third time the High Court has adjourned the pronouncement of judgement.

Mrs Chiluba is appearing before Court judges Evans Hamaundu, Eddie Sikazwe and Catherine Makundu in her appeal case in which she is accused of having received property alleged to have been stolen.

Last year, Magistrate Charles Kafunda convicted Mrs Chiluba to three and half years simple imprisonment for allegedly receiving property believed to have been stolen contrary to section 319(a) cap 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

Mrs Chiluba appealed against her conviction to the Supreme Court.

Last time, the matter was adjourned to today because Judges who were supposed to preside over the case were still handling other cases in the Supreme Court.

But today, parties were requested to accept the adjournment because one of the judges Makungu has various commitments in Kitwe.
