Home Affairs Minister calls for peace ahead of polls

Minister of Home Affairs Mukhondo Lungu has appealed to Zambians to remain peaceful prior to, during, and after elections.

Lungu said the country has enjoyed peace and tranquility and cannot afford to trade harmony as violence is detrimental and has the potential to derail the nation.

He said his ministry has put in place measures to ensure violence is curbed and perpetrators would be dealt with accordingly.

Lungu confirmed that law enforcement officers will be on guard during elections to ensure law and order prevails, and those found wanting will be arrested and taken to court.
