Hone students fined Kr560 each, all leaders suspended

Evelyn Hone College students have each been fined Kr560 (K560, 000) following the riots that led to the closure of the college a few weeks ago.

The college management has in addition suspended all students in the union together with student council.

The student council is composed of students’ club leaders, association leaders, religious leaders, class representatives, hostel representatives, and any other union.

The government shut Evelyn Hone College a few weeks ago after students rioted against the scrapping of bursaries, lack of accommodation and dirty learning conditions.

The students were also protesting against the government’s removal of subsidies on fuel and maize.
