House owners start charging in USA Dollars

You recently reported about some businesses quoting their prices for their products in US Dollars. This has now become the order of the day in Zambia and PF govt as usual seem clueless on how to deal with the situation and yet the law is on their side !

J and A Properties Limited, a real estate company based in Lusaka is now charging tenants of its properties in US Dollars! This means that rent will no longer be fixed but move with the exchange rate of the Kwacha against the US Dollar.

This has not only caused misery to the tenants but also made it difficult for tenants to plan for their accommodation expense as the cost keeps changing with the exchange rate.

What will become of the economy and the cost of living in the country if everyone resorted to quoting their prices in dollars? Total confusion!

It is no wonder the Kwacha is depreciating in value at an alarming rate! One wonders whether we have a working government in the country! Law and order have broken down and PF leaders seem unaffected and unconcerned! Their preoccupation is to win elections at any cost even at the expense of human life. This is unacceptable!

It is time government showed its relevance to the people and intervened to stop this exploitation of citizens by selfish businesses and restore law and order and confidence in the local currency.
