Human traficking: Zambia named with Afghanistan

Afghanistan, Russia and Zambia are the nations named in a US State Department report as having high rates of human trafficking.

According to Radio Australia, tens of thousands of illegal migrants are trafficked into and through Thailand, especially from Burma, Laos and Cambodia.

More than a million migrants come from Burma to work in Thailand – many illegally and many under a recent policy to provide official employment documentation.

The UN Special Rapporteur on human trafficking, Joy Ngozi Ezeilo, is currently on an official visit to Thailand.
