I am a business genius – GBM

Defence minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba says he is a business genius no political opponent can match.

Mwamba, commonly known as GBM, is engaged in a shadow but intense political battle for the Patriotic Front leadership with a group led by justice minister Wynter Kabimba and is supported by Post Newspaper editor Fred M’membe.

The battle is growing and innuendos have been thrown at GBM and his business which includes a milling company and a tracking company suggesting they were not performing well and collapsing.

GBM said he was aware that there were some people that were determined to bring him and his business down.

“I am a business genius and no body will not take away that from me,” he said, laughing off suggestions that his business was collapsing.

In apparent reference to M’membe, GBM said; “Some of them copy my business. When I talked about venturing into heavy haulage, they went and ventured into the same business but they should know how to run business.”

M’membe recently bought heavy duty trucks to cash in on government and parastals transportation contracts given to him with the blessings of his ally President Michael Sata.

But GBM said he was a rooted business man who has stood different political shifts and would still succeed in that area even if he was to leave his position.

“I told [the late] President Mwanawasa I am GBM today, and I will be GBM in the future. I can go in the desert and still survive in business by selling sand,” he said.

GBM said he pity those talking about his business not doing well when they were flourishing and surviving the competitive market.
