As predicted by the Zambian watchdog yesterday, some High Court Judges have finally started confessing direct relationships in matters involving PF Matero President Miles Sampa and PF Chawama President Edgar Lungu.
When the matter came up for hearing this morning, Lusaka High Court Judge Mungeni Mulenga recused herself from handling the case in which Matero PF President Sampa filed an injunction seeking to restrain Chawama PF President Lungu from being Patriotic Front President.
In recusing herself, Mungeni confessed that she was directly related to PF Chawama president Lungu.
But surprisingly, the same Judge Mungeni yesterday granted a consent judgement in which Chawama PF president Lungu was recognised and declared as the PF’s Presidential candidate.
Apparently it is the same Mungeni who gave the brother-in-law Lungu an injunction at midnight restraining the Guy Scott team from holding their convention.
With this confession, it is now not clear on the status of her ruling yesterday where she declared Lungu the winner. It is further not clear whether the injunction she granted to restrain Scott and other from holding a convention is till valid.
The other relationship to watch is that of Lungu’s backers such as Traditional Affairs Minister Nkandu Luo and her auntie Acting Chief Justice Lombe Chibesakunda.
Their interest is to put Lungu as president so that she (Luo) can be vice-president and later install Luo’s elder brother Chewe as the Chitimukulu of the Bemba speaking people.
