I was beaten for asking when soldiers will recruit’

I went to arakan barrack to ask when they are going to release names of successfull applicants in the fake Defense recruitment exercise they advertised 3 months ago. To my surprise, they just started beating me up & calling me names i wouldn’t be confortable to disclose on this platform. As they were beating me up an Officer passed by & asked why they were beating me up. One of the soldiers who were beating me answered, ”naena achisa mukwipusha ati ama names yakafuma lisa”
The officer then said, ”aba bakembo nabatubelesha sana. Nachena muchume kwati filya mwaumine chilya chimbi last week”
After that instruction I was beaten even harder. As they were beating me I could hear them say these words, ”why can’t you go & tell Government to release money so that the exercise starts? You think nifwebo tuchita determine date? Nabana besu balefwaya ukwingila. Uleyisa mukutushupa ati ama names yalefuma lisa iwe moko moko”
I started apologising but they kept beating me…
Fortunately they decided to stop beating me up probably because they got tired & asked me to go home & never come back.
The incident occured 1 week ago but i’m still in pain. I went to report the matter to police but they told me that we don’t deal with Soldiers.
If the police can not punish those who violated my rights then where should i go & seek justice for the pain which was wrongfully inflicted on me?
Was I wrong to follow up my application?
If there is a lawyer who can volunteer to help me defend my rights please help me. I am a Zambian & don’t deserve to be treated like that in my own country. This is an exercise they advertised so they need to tell us if they will truly recruit this year or we will have to wait untile next year. I am not the only one who is surprised that the names have taken so long to be out. During the previous governments the entire exercise used to take 2 weeks but for PF its now 3 months & no response.
There is so many of us who are jobless so this exercise is so important to us & you are really hurting us by this long delay in releasing the names.
Please if there is a lawyer who can help me get compensated for my rights which were violated by those merciless soldiers contact me on: [email protected]
