I wont drop Chilufya, he is still innocent – Lungu

President Edgar Lungu will not drop Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya, but will await the outcome of the case, State House has said.

Responding to a press query by Daily Revelation, president Lungu said through his press aide  Isaac Chipampe that Chilufya, who was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for being in possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime, has just been arrested and the court processes have neither started nor been concluded.

He stated that the prosecution has not complained that Chilufya is interfering with the case by remaining in office.

“Hon Chitalu Chilufya will be given an opportunity to be heard in the courts of law. Right now he has just been arrested and the court processes have neither started nor been concluded. The prosecution has, on the other hand, not complained that he is interfering with the case by virtue of being in office,” Chipampe stated. “Therefore, His Excellency, Dr Edgar Chagwa Lungu, President of the Republic of Zambia will await the outcome of this case.”

He said in Zambia there was presumption of innocence until proven guilty.

“In the Zambian legal system there is “presumption of innocence” until proven guilty.
Article 18 (2) of the Zambian constitution, provides that everyone person who is charged with a criminal offence shall be presumed to be innocent until he or she is proved or pleads guilty…it guarantees that no guilt can be presumed until the charge has been proved beyond reasonable doubt,” stated Chipampe.

If we want true justice and no corruption then we have to vote for HH as he is a true man of God. That’s the only way Zambia will rise and become Great again and give everyone jobs. God will truly bless Zambia with a true Christian in charge, that is his promise.

100% guaranteed PF linked ACC will certainly present a shoddy prosecution to have this case dismissed.
Like Chitotela and their likes, Chilufya will have his criminal proceeds laundered as the Court finds him innocent.
This is all pre-planned to hoodwink Zambians.
Tha ambulances saga with the recent Honey Bee Pharmacy scandle the list goes on.

Not to worry Mr President, the People of Zambia will drop you even if you may be innocent. This rhetoric of non action has certainly sealed your fate – a president decampaigning himself is classic modern politics.

What is the difference, in 2018 President Edgar Lungu took the first step towards the clean-up in the Social Cash Transfer scandal with Community Development Minister Emerine Kabanshi fired.
Kabanshi becomes the first casualty with many more expected to go in a scandal that has forced some donors to suspend aid to Zambia.
The UK has frozen aid funding to Zambia over the $4.3m (£3.3m) under the Social Cash Transfer Scheme.
The move follows allegations of corruption within President Edgar Lungu’s administration.
The UK takes a “zero-tolerance approach to fraud and corruption”, the UK’s Department for International Development (DfID) said in a statement.
Ireland, Finland and Sweden have also suspended aid.
President Lungu announced that he had given Secretary to the Cabinet one week to give him concrete answers but within 24 hours the axe has fallen on Kabanshi.
