Immigration questions Kabwe businessman who assaulted worker over wages

A Kabwe businessman, Nabil el Raie, who assaulted an ex-employee Kelly Mwansa has been summoned by the department of immigration for questioning.

Nabil El Raie’s of Lebanese origin owns Kabwe Take away restaurant called Speers.

His effort to pay the assaulted former employee Kelly Mwansa to withdraw the case has failed. Mwansa has changed his mind and rejected the agreed sum and instead wants El Raie be prosecuted.

And Lebanese nationals doing business in Kabwe are reportedly living in fear that Zambians may loot their business premises following the incident in which El Raie battered hi former worker for demanding his wages.

Sources from the department of Immigration told the Zambian Watchdog that El raie was summoned by the investigations wing of immigrations on Friday in Kabwe but could not give details on why they called El Raie.

“The exposure in the Watchdog shocked the government and they have asked for thorough investigations and it also looks like the assaulted guy Kelly Mwansa has made things difficult by asking for more money than he agreed upon earlier,’ said an official from the department.
