Imposition of state of emergency has damaged Zambia’s image – Finland

Finnish Ambassador to Zambia Timo Olkkonen says government’s decision to declare a state emergency will have a negative impact on the country’s image.

Finland is one of the major donors to Zambia.

Mr. Olkkonen says the move will affect Zambia’s image internationally regardless of the justification of the declaration by government.

He says this is especially that foreign media outlets just report it as a  state of emergency despite what other names the PF regime want to call it.

Mr Olkkonen notes that this has created a lot of confusion internationally.

He said that while it is government’s responsibility to protect its citizens, the imposition of the state of emergency has raised a lot of uncertainty internationally.
