International Commission of Jurists sends team to find out why Sata suspended judges

The International Commission of Jurists (JSC) has set up a three-man panel to investigate how and why President Michael Sata suspended three senior judges.

JSC is headquartered in Geveva but has regional offices in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The objectives of JSC are to advance the independence of the judiciary and the legal profession and the administration of justice in full compliance with standards of international law. It aims at promoting the rule of law at the international scale.

The three judges who have been sent to Zambia are Judge Qinile Mabuza and Thomas Masuku, all of Swaziland; and Roger Chongwe of Zambia.

Maybe that is why Chongwe has shut up of late.

JSC Secretariat is based in Geneva, with regional offices in Bangkok, Guatemala and South Africa.
