It’s Lungu who facilitated Malawian maize scandal – Chishimba

img_1347United Progressive People (UPP) Leader Saviour Chishimba says President Edgar Lungu is the one who facilitated the seal of corrupt dealings in the Malawian maize scandal that has left several senior Malawian givernment officials fired and George Chaponda the Minister of Agriculture suspended.

And Chishimba says Lungu has embarrassed himself to the world by publicly lying to the Zambian people that there was no corruption in the maize transaction involving Malawi and Zambia.

On his return from Addis Ababa Ethiopia, Lungu told Zambians that he met with Malawian President Peter Mutharika who reportedly briefed him that there was no corruption in the transaction.

But According to a 38 pages Commission of Inquiry report, the Government of Malawi, through ADMARC, refused to give Transglobe a contract, But Dr, Chaponda dealt directly with President Lungu who advised Transglobe to deal with the Zambian government.

Chishimba says failure by Lungu to take punitive actions against the Minister of Agriculture, officials in the ministry and ZCF is an indication he is not committed in the fight corruption.

He said he has evidence showing how government was directly involved in the illegal contract with Transglobe and the subsequent issuance of an export permit.

Meanwhile, the UPP President is proceeding with court action for libel against the Daily Nation for lying that the UPP President is related to Isaac Kapambwe the director of Kaloswe.
