Jean Kapata, Edgar Lungu involved in illegal Mukula trade

Jean Kapata and President Edgar Lungu are some of the key government officials who have been named in illegal trade of Mukula trees in the country and some of the consignment in the recently impounded 70 trucks belonged to them.
An investigation by the joint security operations task force constituted to ‘investigate and track’ down the people behind the illegal trade has revealed that some of the trees are cut down in Mwinilunga and other parts of North western and Luapula provinces and dubiously transported into the Democratic Republic of Congo for loading to disguise them as coming from there.
The consignment is later transported through Zambia but due to an outcry from members of the public on the indiscriminate cutting down of trees government constituted a team of security personnel from the Office of the President – OP, Zambia army, ZAF, ZNS, DEC and police to disguise the involvement of Lungu and Kapata.
The placement of Kapata as lands minister was strategic so that she can be a front for the trade, and it is also heard that in spite of dealing with Lungu, Kapata is also involved with some Chinese partners who are paying her money without the knowledge of Lungu.
A source from the constituted team has told the Zambian Watchdog that Jean kapata is even in due course to sign a Statutory Instrument – SI on Mukula tree to try and hoodwink Zambians. Kapata recently panicked and travelled all the way up to Kasumbalesa border post after learning that her contraband was among those that were confiscated. Later the trucks were allowed passage through Zambia.
