Former UPND National Youth Chairperson Joe Kalusa has been detained by Police in Ndola for questioning in connection with alleged threats to rape Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) president Edith Nawakwi.
Kalusa will appear in court today to answer charges levelled against him, Copperbelt Province Police Commissioner Mary Tembo confirmed in an interview yesterday.
“I can confirm that Mr Kalusa is in detention for questioning and will appear in court tomorrow,” Ms Tembo said.
Ms Tembo said Mr Kalusa has been charged with conduct likely to cause breach of the peace and the other charge will be known today.
Last week PF newspapers wrote that Kalusa, who defected to MMD towards elections, vowed to set rapists on Nawakwi for allegedly disrespecting UPND president Hakainde Hichilema.
But Lusaka Province PF chairperson Geofrey Chumbwe is still a free man despite saying that opposition UPND cadres will be forced to ‘shift’ from their party secretariat if they continue issuing violent threats against the ruling party cadres.
